COOKING

Neil says I need to stop telling everyone I am not a cook. Actually I am a pretty good cook. But when it is just the 2 of us and he doesn’t care, cooking is not much fun. That being said, I just subscribed to Cooks Illustrated and asked Danielle to get me the Martha Stewart wooden spice rack for Christmas. Of course I don’t know that I will actually get it but I did ask. This must mean I am thinking about cooking again.

Now for the girls here are my Mom’s recipes for Orange Cookies and Cheese Cake. Danielle if you read this, make copies for yourself.

ORANGE COOKIES

1C. milk + 1Tbs. white vinegar Let stand for 1 hour.

Mix together in order:
1 C. Sugar
1 C. Butter
2 Eggs
1 tsp. Baking Soda
Milk Mixture
1 sm. Can Orange Juice Concentrate
5 C. Flour

Bake cookies at 350 degrees for 10 minutes. These are a cake like cookie. When they cool ice with:

Mix 1 box Powdered Sugar, Orange Juice and butter until the right consistency.

I am not sure how much butter. She doesn’t say, so you are on your own there.

CHEESE CAKE

Preheat oven to 375 degrees, use a 9” spring pan

Crust: 1 box Zweibach
½ C. Melted Butter
1 tsp. Cinnamon
¼ C. Sugar
Mix together and press into spring pan.

Filling: 2 lbs. Cream Cheese
1 Tbs. Lemon Juice
1 C. Sugar
4 Beaten Eggs
Mix together and bake for 20 minutes.

Topping: 1 pt. Sour Cream
4 Tbs. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
Mix together and spread over cheese cake. Bake at 475 degrees for 10 minutes.

Cool and eat the best cheese cake ever. If I can find my Mom’s recipe for Chocolate Mousse, I will pass it along.

Thank you so much! I'll get busy on the cookies very soon. I love the flavor of orange. The cheesecake will have to wait until I can find some people to help me eat it.

My hubby was just asking when I was going to make another cheesecake. I will do that, Jeannie, and we can tell Pam how we did, okay.
Thanks so much Pam!

The orange cookies are pretty good, but not as good as the sweet rolls. Ask her for the sweet roll recipe. Best sweet rolls in the world. And we BETTER be having some for Xmas breakfast!

Yummmmm, sweet rolls. Yes, please, Pam, I would like your sweet roll recipe. I have been searching for years for a really, really good recipe for those. Let me try yours, please.

My little boy is a trouble maker. Can't promise the rolls will get made for Xmas, but I will post the recipe. Tomorrow
